Chef Daniel Boulud has opened his first steakhouse, La Tête d’Or by Daniel, at 318 Park Avenue South in Flatiron at the new office office tower One Madison Avenue. Designed by David Rockwell and Rockwell Group, the space is grand yet inviting, with plush velvet banquettes and softly padded walls offsetting the soaring ceilings. Deep blue tones and dark wood add to the feeling of warmth in the 120-seat main dining room, bar, lounge and private dining rooms. Chef Boulud (Daniel, Café Boulud, Le Pavillon) is exploring classic New York steakhouse cuisine and enhancing it with a touch of French flair at the restaurant.  “My cuisine is always rooted in tradition, with the use of the finest seasonal ingredients, and a steakhouse is the ideal showcase for these elements,” says Boulud. “It is quite a simple, universal pleasure, an excellent steak and a great sauce, but it needs to be executed with precision, and it needs to have soul. It is a joy to work at the wood-fire grill, with the highest quality meats and produce my own version of the steakhouse classics.” The menu features beef steaks, seafood plateaus, veal and lamb chops and a whole grilled lobster. Tuna tartare and crab cakes are served alongside tableside preparations of Caesar salad and a prime rib trolley where Scharbauer Ranch American Wagyu Ribeye is sliced to order. La Tête d’Or has opened in partnership with frequent partner SL Green, the developer of One Madison and One Vanderbilt with whom chef Boulud and his Dinex Group have had great success. “We are all great believers in the power of an exceptional restaurant, in the most spectacular locations, in this wonderful city,” says Dinex Group CEO Sebastien Silvestri. “New Yorkers have always loved a world-class steakhouse, and we are certainly aiming to bring them one to take note of.”

The post Room Request! Pendry Park City appeared first on DuJour.

]]>
It’s often said that the best thing about Park City is that you can be at your East Coast desk in the morning and still make it slopeside by après. And that is true: Just 35 minutes from SLC Airport, Utah’s chicest city, a former silver mining town, is also one of the easiest-to-fly-to ski destinations. But that’s just the tip of the snowpack, as it were. Park City Mountain is the biggest ski and snowboard resort in the U.S., with 341 trails across more than 7,300 acres of terrain; 41 lifts; a seasonal average of 355 inches of snow (2023 saw a whopping 612); and endless options for post-ski entertainment. It is a place for serious shredders, those just in it for the midmorning Bloody Mary, and even those who’d just as soon spectate from the comfort of a heated rooftop pool.

Your best choice home-away-from for all three ski-vacation types—or a combination thereof—is the Pendry Park City, a modern ski-in/ski-out boutique hotel in the center of Canyons Village featuring California-inspired design, an excellent Japanese steakhouse, and, yes, Park City’s only rooftop pool. In fact, if Park City weren’t so charming, there would be no reason to leave. And yet. Standouts among a town center bursting with high end shops and well-curated cafes include Handle and Pine Cone Ridge, both driven by a commitment to local farms and meticulously paired wine lists, and sister boutiques Cake and C2 by Cake. Use the hotel’s ultra-efficient (and free) shuttle service to get there.

This year, Epic Pass is making travel to Park City—and several of Vail Resorts’ other mountains—even easier, with the new gear membership plan My Epic Gear, which gives members access to more than 60 new season models of ski and snowboard gear, plus resort delivery and slopeside pickup and drop off. (Haven’t bought your Epic Pass, yet? There’s still time!)

DuJour spoke with Pendry Park City’s director of sales and marketing, Chris Lawing, to learn more about the hotel—and get stoked for the season ahead.

What’s the most requested room at the property?

Our Four-Bedroom Residence is the most sought-after room at Pendry Park City.

What makes it so special?

It’s perfect for multi-generational family stays. It allows for 8 to 12 guests to share a spectacular “home-away-from-home.” And it features some of the best views in the resort and includes a fun bunk bedroom for the younger guests—with a ski design on the wallpaper!

What’s the nightly rate for this room?

From $2,350 per night in the winter and $1,700 in summer.

The living room of a Peak King Residence

What’s your favorite design element on property?

The hotel is a modern twist on a mountain lodge. The building oozes with contemporary luxury and, most importantly, has no artwork of flora or fauna anywhere on property. Also, Pendry Park City has the only rooftop pool and restaurant in Park City. At The Pool House, the mountain views and drinks are top-notch.

What’s your personal favorite room? Why?

The Four-Bedroom Residence has it all. There is ample space for larger families to spend time together, including a large balcony outside of the living room with wonderful views. And while having a welcoming open layout, each room still offers plenty of privacy.

What special perk or amenity do you offer that no one knows about?

KITA, our signature Japanese steakhouse and sushi restaurant, provides s’mores kits to the guests who dine with them—whether you are staying at Pendry Park City or not.

An outdoor firepit at Pendry Park City

An outdoor firepit

What are your favorite things about the property?

The property’s access to Park City Mountain is unbeatable and considered among the best slopeside accommodations in the United States. You can walk out of the building and jump on the Sunrise Lift to start your day, and then ski right into the hotel at the end of the day. For the 2025-26 ski season, the Sunrise Lift will be replaced with a brand new 10-person Sunrise Gondola with service to the main part of the mountain.

And your favorite things about Park City?

The saying, “Come for the Winter and Stay for the Summer” seems overused, but it is so true. Skiing, snowboarding, and other winter activities are fantastic and the most well-known, but the summer season here features outdoor concerts ranging from the Utah Symphony to modern rock, multiple festivals and events on Historic Main Street, and to top it off, in the middle of summer  we’ve got daylight until 9:30 pm!

W Aspen is igniting the town’s après ski scene with two new culinary experiences. In December, the property will launch a residency of chef Eyal Shani’s famed HaSalon restaurant alongside an inventive new cocktail bar, Hidalgo, helmed by mixologist Dushan Zarić of Employees Only. Together, they bring a new vision of food and beverage offerings to the tony ski town.

HaSalon Aspen is a testament to Shani’s ability to elevate simple ingredients into unforgettable dishes while honoring the rich flavors of the Mediterranean. With its festive irreverence and devil-may-care vibe, the restaurant has lured the party crowd from Tel Aviv to Miami Beach, and will touch down at W Aspen from December through April. Expect dishes like charred beetroot carpaccio, baby potatoes kissed by Osetra caviar, and “pasta dishes so ethereal they seem to float off the plate.” HaSalon Aspen will offer two dining experiences: an intimate, music-driven seating before 8pm, and later, a spirited space that plays host to both indulgent dishes and behavior—perfect for a town that embraces over-the-top revelry.

On the cocktail front, Zarić brings a touch of alchemy to W Aspen in the form of a new agave bar. Known for transforming cocktail culture, his latest venture features new interpretations to classic concoctions. Signature cocktails like the Improved Margarita and Yellow Jacket celebrate the art of mixology with carefully curated, artisanal ingredients that reflect his creative precision. Open Thursday through Monday, the bar promises to be an alluring draw both for Aspen locals and global tastemakers on holiday.

W Aspen’s newest additions reflect the brand’s ongoing global evolution, rooted in an elevated approach to gastronomy, design and service.

Our King Premium Grand Corner Terrace. The wrap-around windows offer the most stunning views of Miami Beach and Sunset Harbour, with plenty of space to entertain friends or family members.

What’s an interesting tidbit about the hotel that speaks to its status as an icon?

The hotel’s striking design is by legendary Miami architect and designer Kobi Karp, who wanted to create an iconic addition to the South Beach scene. Most might not know this, but the design takes its cue from Miami’s oceanic environment. Meant to resemble the hull of a private luxury yacht lifted on its side, our lobby incorporates art displays that resemble the ripples of the Atlantic Ocean. And While South Beach has a reputation for flashy glam, our Sunset Harbour location is an enchanting enclave that’s not your tourist’s typical Miami Beach. Situated at the junction of Miami’s Lincoln Road, our location is a gateway to Miami’s best-kept local scene, where trendy boutiques, unique waterfront dining and unforgettable sunsets are just steps away.

How about one more fun fact about the property?

To support Miami’s incredibly strong art community, we recently launched an Artist in Residence program to highlight local artists and offer guests an exclusive glimpse into the city’s dynamic art scene. For our first artist, we partnered with Milda Aleknaite, a South Florida-based artist who takes inspiration from the vibrant energy of South Florida’s unique environment. Her work can be seen from the porte cochere, lobby, and second, third, and fourth floors. The best part? All art from our artists in residence program will be available for sale directly through each artist.

The post Cool Hand Luke appeared first on DuJour.

]]>
Luke Grimes stars as Kayce Dutton in the final season of Yellowstone, now streaming on the Paramount Network. The series chronicles the trials of the Dutton family, led by John Dutton (Kevin Costner), who controls the largest contiguous ranch in the United States. Costner is, famously, not returning for the series’ final episodes, but Grimes reteams with his co-stars Kelly Reilly, Wes Bentley, Cole Hauser and Kelsey Asbille. The series’ season five premiere brought in nearly 16 million viewers, making it the most-watched show on television for all of 2022. Grimes recently wrapped production on writer/director Ari Aster’s next project, Eddington, for A24 opposite Joaquin Phoenix (“one of my acting heroes,” says Grimes), Emma Stone and Pedro Pascal.

When Yellowstone took a long hiatus, Grimes stayed busy with his music career. Blending elements of country, folk and Americana, Grimes released his self-titled debut album in 2024. The Dayton, Ohio, native and his wife, Brazilian model Bianca Rodrigues Grimes, recently welcomed a baby boy. For the past seven years, the couple has shuttled between Montana (where the series films) and Nashville, but now that the show is over, Grimes is writing a second album and headed across the country on his “Playin’ on the Tracks” tour, which kicked off in November. We caught up with the actor and musician before he hit the road.

You’ve been married to Bianca since 2018. How has it been to have been with someone since breaking out on the show?

I felt like my life really started when I met her—it sounds cheesy but it’s true. I know where my priorities lie now and what’s most important and I get to enjoy my career more because I take it a lot less seriously now.

You recently had your first child. How has it been to become a parent? Is there anything you learned from the show about parenthood?

I think the hardest thing to relate to with Kayce was the fact that he was a dad, because I wasn’t one, so there was a lot of me asking my friends who are fathers how certain things made them feel. Taylor [Sheridan, the show’s creator] is such a good writer that it made it a lot easier to play the role on the show, but in no way did that actually prepare me for fatherhood.

You’ve played Kayce for seven years. How have you approached this part?

I think Kayce was sort of the outsider of the family. He’s dealing with a lot of demons—it’s not super fun to be the guy in the Western who’s feeling his feelings all the time, so there’s a challenge to that, but I fell in love with him. He’s a good heart and a good soul and he is trying to do the right thing, so for me it was always justifiable playing Kayce.

Who in the cast are you closest with outside of work?

Definitely Kelsey, who plays my wife—there’s a lot of different worlds on this show, and we kind of had our own, so we spent a lot of time together. Really since Day 1 we got along really well. I’ve said it before, she’s the coolest actress I’ve ever worked with—she’s so good at what she does and so easy to work with.

What will you miss most about the show?

Well, I don’t have to miss the location luckily because I live there now. I’ll miss the cast and crew, I’ll miss playing Kayce, I’ll miss the world and the imaginary ranching work of it all. Some of the relationships I made on this show are really special and I think they will last a long time.

What was it like returning to the set in Montana without having Kevin Costner there?

It was something we all knew was going to happen at some point in the story—just narratively, there had to be a moment where we would see if the family could keep the ranch without the patriarch. I don’t think we expected it to happen this way, but it’s an ensemble cast; there were enough people carrying the weight [that] I don’t think it will affect how the audience sees the story. It was definitely different without him. Kevin is an icon, but we’re all professionals, it didn’t really affect how we did our jobs.

What’s your favorite memory from set?

Something that always comes to mind when I think about that is the days when we’d do the cattle drive scenes and we’re cowboyed up. There’s no way to fake that, you just have to do it—so we’d all be on horseback and in our cowboy gear, you’re somewhere gorgeous and the sun is setting and you’re running out of time because you’re losing the light, so everyone is gunning around. There’s some beautiful chaos there—in those moments it feels like you’re really cowboying, which is not something a lot of people get to experience. Those days made me feel really lucky.

The post Great Performances: Megan Hilty appeared first on DuJour.

]]>
Because of her iconic role on the short-lived television series Smash, it only seems like Megan Hilty is a permanent mainstay on Broadway. She actually hasn’t trod the boards on Broadway since a production of Noises Off back in 2016. This fall, after a long absence, she returned to New York in a musical version of the 1992 movie Death Becomes Her in the role of Madeline Ashton, originally played by Meryl Streep.

It’s a welcome return for Hilty, a one-time Glinda from Wicked and mother of two. The last few years have been challenging for the 43-year-old actress, after she tragically lost her sister and brother-in-law and their son in a plane crash in 2022. After a hiatus doing mostly voice-over work, she has also returned to television in Amazon’s The Pradeeps of Pittsburgh.

You haven’t been on Broadway in a while. What are you most looking forward to?

I’m really looking forward to being a part of a company again and feeling like, as a group, we’re doing something magical together. As physically taxing as it can be, I love the regularity of an eight-show week and seeing the same people every day, on- and offstage.

Is there anything you’re not looking forward to?

Seeing cell phones and recording devices lit up in the audience. We can see everything that’s happening in the house, and the lights are extremely distracting to us onstage, not to mention how awful it is for everyone who is sitting near lit-up phones in the audience.

You probably get offered every musical that’s being cast. What made you want to do Death Becomes Her?

Death Becomes Her is one of my absolute favorite movies, and it’s one of the few films that makes sense to reimagine as a musical because of its campy, heightened reality. When I read the brilliant script and listened to the incredible songs, I was completely sold!

Have you spent time with Meryl Streep? How do you feel about the possibility of her coming to see the show?

Like everyone else in the galaxy, I am a huge fan of hers, and I would be so delighted if she were to come to the show. My hope is that anyone who is affiliated with the iconic movie would see our show and feel the love and reverence we have for the work they did. I’d also hope they’d appreciate our interpretation of this big, fun, fabulous story, which is simply, “What if they sang and danced while they tried to kill each other?”

How do you wind down these days after a performance?

During our Chicago run, I’d take a long bath, drink a cup of Sleepytime tea, and watch as many episodes of Traitors, Below Deck or Selling Sunset as I could manage until I fell asleep. Now that my family is with me in NYC, each night will probably consist of packing school lunches for my kids and complaining to my husband about how many lit-up cell phones I counted in the audience.
